October MAND-TC Education Event “Nourishing Mind, Body, and Soul – How a Meal Delivery Service can Benefit Your Patients” at Open Arms of Minnesota

Open Arms of Minnesota is a nonprofit meal delivery program that cooks & delivers medically-tailored meals to individuals living with life-threatening illnesses in the Twin Cities. Their mission is to nourish mind, body, and soul for people facing a health crisis, including those with HIV/AIDS, cancer, MS, ALS, ESRD, CHF, and COPD. Open Arms has a team of registered dietitians who analyze and approve their menus that are planned for many specific medical needs. Additionally, they provide nutrition counseling and a variety of other services to complement the healthy meals their clients receive.
Open Arms is a fantastic resource for Twin Cities RDs to recommend, especially for those who are working in clinical settings with patients who need support when they’re outside of the doctor’s office. This talk will include a detailed overview of the services Open Arms provides and the research behind the benefits of home-delivered and medically-tailored meals. The Open Arms RDs will also provide a discussion on how they plan the menus for the various illnesses that they serve.
There will be refreshments available, and you’ll have a chance to try a delicious homemade cookie from the Open Arm’s bakery!
This event provides two CEUs and registration is free. However, Open Arms takes donations to help support their mission. Just $5 funds one medically-tailored meal for a client, so just a little goes a long way. Additionally, you can bring a cash or check donation to the event on 10/30.
