What do you like to do for fun?
Anything that involves ice cream is music to my ears. But I enjoy spending copious amounts of time outdoors, especially on the lake, and cozying up on the couch with a good food documentary and my two cats.
What are you most excited about experiencing in your internship ?
The thing that most excites me is getting to meet the array of people who are just as passionate about food as I am. The people I have met already have been truly amazing and I cannot wait to make more connections and continue to network as my program continues.
What interested you in a career in dietetics?
I have always had a love for anything relating to food, be it cooking in the kitchen with my grandma or even pretending to create recipes playing in my sandbox when I was little. When I was younger I would watch hours of Alton Brown’s Good Eats and it really got me interested in the science behind food. I never really thought much about it but when I started looking for colleges and careers in high school, I came across dietetics and realized how much that career seemed to fit into what I was most passionate about. I started my freshman year declared as a dietetics major and never once looked back!
If you could give incoming freshman who are thinking of going into dietetics one piece of
advice, what would it be?
I would say dietetics is not for the faint of heart but it has by far been the most rewarding challenge I have faced. Don’t be scared off by the intense curriculum, the people you get to impact make the journey completely worth it!
