The Nutrition Department at the College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University invites applications for a full-time, one-year term position as Visiting Assistant Professor commencing August 2021.
The Nutrition department is a collegial, dedicated, and engaged team of seven faculty members with a broad range of specializations. A Nutrition major and minor, including an ACEND-accredited didactic program in dietetics are offered. Appreciation and respect for the food habits and traditions of diverse peoples is balanced with the principles of scientific methodology and open inquiry. Intellectual growth of our students is promoted through innovative laboratory experiences, student research, study abroad opportunities, and community service. We are committed to helping our students develop skills in critical thinking, effective communication, ethical decision-making, and leadership in order to prepare them for contemporary nutrition careers, post-baccalaureate studies, service to their communities, and life-long learning.
Responsibilities:
Teach courses in medical nutrition therapy (covering both chronic and acute care, including the provision of nutrition support), nutrition assessment (with a focus on the Nutrition Care Process), and other coursework as needed in the department.
Assist in academic advising.
Engage in scholarly activity and provide service to the department, students, campus, and the community.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Nutrition or closely-related field; must have at least 18 graduate credits in Nutrition;
Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) as recognized by the Commission on Dietetic Registration;
Current membership (or acquired by August 2021) in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and/or the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN);
Demonstrated proficiency in teaching evidenced based content. If teaching Nutrition Therapy and Nutrition Assessment courses, candidates must be a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) and/or the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (ASPEN) (by the contract start date), and have recent nutrition support practitioner experience as a registered dietitian.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals/groups;
Ability to advocate for the success of students and the department
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD or DCN (Doctorate of Clinical Nutrition);
Certified Nutrition Support Clinician®;
Recent nutrition support practitioner experience as a registered dietitian;
Experience and/or familiarity with the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accreditation standards;
Teaching experience at the college level;
Advising and/or mentoring experience;
Evidence of scholarly activity.
